Is the charming town, capital of the culture of floclore in the Minho region, situated on the mouth of the river Lima. Viana’s landscape is unique, on a side the Lima and on the back the Santa Luzia hill. A medieval town in front of the sea full of typical squares, narrow streets, attractive typical shops and a big number of manour houses. But the most impressive point is in the old part of the town, the main square, Praça da República, ex-libris of Viana do Castelo: the old Town Hall House, the Casa da Misericordia (1598) and the Fountain (1553).

A photo-stop at the most impressive viewpoint in the country – Monte de Santa Luzia next to the Temple Monument (1926) 3km away from the centre of Viana, on a hill.

Along the river Minho we will pass Caminha, Vila Nova de Cerveira and we will reach the old frontier town Valença do Minho.

Valença do Minho

17th and 18th century fortress walls enclose the town, built on a hill overlooking the river Minho. The gate Porta do Sol is a good entry point. In the highest part of the fortifications is a Pousada with a nice view over Spain.
