Guimarães:
The birthplace of the portuguese kingdom. In the 12th century Guimarães was the first capital of Portugal and today is classified as World Heritage Centre by UNESCO. Start by visiting the “Castle of Guimarães” and just across, the romanesque chapel of São Miguel.
Free time to walk around the city’s streets in the historical centre, passing the Rua de Santa Maria with the beautiful manour houses and their charming varandahs. In Largo da Oliveira stands the Igreja (church) de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, with a large gothic doorway and a beautiful front adorned with sculptures.

Braga:
The portuguese Rom town, with lots of churches, called in roman time Bracara Augusta. Braga was the religious capital of Portugal in the XII century. A stop at the “cathedral”, ex-libris of the History of Braga with there different styles like the romanic, the gothic, as the barroque.
Free time to walk in the historical centre, pedestrian areas with beautiful shops and cafes, where the traditional old builings stand between the modern architecture of the town.

Santuary Bom Jesus do Monte
The most spectacular religious sanctuary is situated near Braga and was finished in 1181 by a famous architect called Calos Amarante. The monumental staircase is surrounded with chapels to the 14 Stations of the Cross.
Near the church, amongst the trees are hotels, a bar and a small shop.
